Do any of you need background noise to fall asleep? I didn’t used to, but do now. The Boy and I fall asleep most nights with [adult swim] on in the background. When I was home this past weekend, I fell asleep with my iPod on one night, listening to Tool. Fortunately I was smart and remembered to set the sleep timer on my iPod so that it didn’t play all night. I didn’t realize how much I rely on the background noise at bedtime until I didn’t have it available.
Last night we fell asleep after Venture Brothers had ended, snuggling into our new flannel sheets. They’re super soft and it’s like sleeping wrapped in fluffy cotton clouds. I woke up warm and cozy this morning to hug The Boy goodbye, before settling in for a couple more hours of rest. I woke up at ten, and was hungry, but wanted to meet The Boy for lunch at eleven-thirty (I had today off), so I decided to make a light breakfast to hold me over until then.
I combined a half cup of Grape Nuts with a half cup of hot milk and let it sit to get soggy. I added a half cup of Kashi Warm Cinnamon heart-to-heart cereal and a small drizzle of maple syrup before digging in, filling my belly with warm flavors.
After catching up on some blogs and showering, I headed out to meet The Boy. Over lunch at Wendy’s, where I got chili and a salad, we talked about this past weekend and the upcoming weeks. I can’t believe that tomorrow is December already – this year is flying by. We took our time eating, and once we finished, I headed home to play with the cats and catch up on laundry.
I wanted to spend the day relaxing, and that I did. I snacked on a mini pumpkin pie and a greek yogurt with cereal this afternoon. I spent a couple hours watching Twilight, after which I took one of the cats to the vet, where he was given a clean bill of health. Once I’d dropped him at home, I went to the gym for a half hour of weights, followed by ten minutes of walking on the treadmill. It was nice to get back into the gym and to get moving – I was happy for the break, but eager to make it into the gym.
I made it back to the apartment as The Boy was leaving work. We chatted on the phone while I got dinner started, kneading together a pizza dough and letting it rise for a half hour. Once my dough ball had risen a bit, I flattened it into our cast iron skillet, and topped it with a quick homemade pizza sauce, provolone, and turkey pepperoni.
It was delicious and super thick. In the oven the crust rose a bit more, and when we cut into the small pie, it was an inch thick! The crust was soft and fluffy on the inside but crispy outside, and the toppings were amazing. I ate about one fourth of the pizza before leaving the table with a full and happy tummy.
Now I am unwinding by playing with one of the cats and folding laundry. I’ll be headed to bed soon, playing some Final Fantasy as I settle into the fluffy sheets for the night. I hope you all had a happy Monday!
