We visited The Boy's parents over the weekend, and left to come back home
last night after dinner. As we were making our way home, we passed a trio of
hearses. I immediately asked The Boy if he had seen the three cars traveling in
the opposite direction, and when he said yes, we had a little laugh. That
encounter, however, led to this conversation Sunday night.
Me: Dear, what is the plural of hearse?
The Boy: Hearses. Isn't it?
Me: I don't know. What if it's like deer and it's hearse. You know, instead
of saying "I saw three deer," you'd say "I saw three hearse."
The Boy: I really think it's hearses.
Me: Really? That just sounds funny.
The Boy: Google it.
So I did, and lo and behold, the plural of hearse is hearses. Now, what to do
with that random bit of knowledge, I'll never know.
