Today was Opening Day 2014. A really really big day in the Reds Nation. I was not a baseball fan when we first moved to Cincinnati seven years ago, and somehow ended up having a baseball and Reds-themed wedding. This year, I was determined to go to Opening Day, because in Cincinnati? It's huge. There is a parade through downtown, a block party by the ballpark, and over one hundred thousand people take off from work to celebrate the end of winter and the return of baseball, though the ballpark can only hold around forty thousand of those folks. It's like Christmas in March (or April), and it is wonderful.
This Opening Day we had a blast. Our team didn't win, but we celebrated alongside many other baseball fans excited that for the next six months, there will be baseball, peanuts, cracker jack, and camaraderie. All around a sport that is laid-back and exciting, interesting and amazing. Baseball is back and though it has been officially spring for over a week now, to me, spring has just now officially begun.
Here are just a few of the many (many) photos we took today while we were at the parade and the ballpark. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
